The Latin
American women who were victimized in what federal
officials say was a major prostitution ring are living
in safe housing, getting psychological counseling and
other assistance, and may qualify for special US visas
for sex trafficking victims who cooperate with law

Abortion now legal in Mexico City
Last week the Legislative Assembly of
Mexico City voted 46-19 to legalize abortion up to the
first trimester of pregnancy. The initiative was the
first of its kind in the country and a forefront over
other state legislatures. It was voted by five leftist
political parties; opposition came from rightist Green
and National Action parties.

Cops arrest Mexican taxi drivers for showing porn flicks in cabs
Three taxi drivers were
arrested on charges of showing pornographic DVDs in
their cabs in the southern Mexican city of Tapachula.

crime, and freedom of the press remains elusive.
Journalists are often targeted and killed simply for
telling the truth. Last year alone, Mexico saw the
deaths of 10 journalists, according to the World Press.
